Asma Mukhtar was arrested on January 28, 2014 and appeared before the Prosecution on January 29, 2014. She was accused of Causing civil unrest, vandalism, and assembly; destruction of public property; joining an armed terrorist group intent on disturbing public peace and security; possession of molotov cocktails, fireworks, and firearms, in case No 1360 for 2014, Al-Azbakeya administrative. She was sentenced to five years imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 L.E. The sentence was reduced on appeal to two years and then she was granted a presidential pardon. -Violations she was subjected to: she was beaten in Al-Qanater prison in what is known as the Qanater massacre, and during her arrest in the Azbakeya police station – she was imprisoned with criminals.
