Esraa Ahmed was arrested on April 4, 2016 by the forces responsible for guarding Al-Azhar University. She was taken to the Second Nasr City Department. Report no. 2537 for 2016, Second Nasr City Misdemeanors, was released. She was presented to the prosecution, where she was charged with joining a banned group and possessing publications against the state and its institutions, as well as the police and army. She was imprisoned under investigations. She was granted bail of 5,000 pounds on April 21, 2016.
