Wedad Ahmed was arrested on May 15, 2014, when forces raided her house in Alexandria to arrest her son, Othman Beshari. When they did not find him, the forces arrested her and her daughter, Shema, and her daughter’s husband. She was investigated under case no. 3054 for 2014 First Raml Directorate, registered under number 24419 for 2014 First Raml Felonies. Her imprisonment was ordered and she was transferred to Damanhour prison. She was sentenced on September 3, 2015 to three years in prison. She was discharged on a presidential pardon on September 23, 2015. Violations she suffered: – she was isolated in a solitary cell and deprived of her medications, food and clothes in Damanhour prison in December 2014 – She suffered from health problems and difficulty in moving and walking, and had to use crutches.
