Yusr Helmy was arrested in her home in Bulaq al-Dakrour on October 13, 2015 for managing social media pages inciting violence. She was accused of abusing religion, national sedition, damaging national unity and possessing publications with intent to distribute them to compromise security and public peace, under case No. 30916 of 2015. She was held in Al-Qanater prison until she was released on November 29, 2015 on bail of 5,000 pounds.
