Amal Khalil and others were arrested on January 25, 2014, amidst participating in marches against the current regime in Ismailia province. She was presented before the prosecution and charged with demonstrating without permission, belonging to a terrorist group, and assaulting public facilities. She was remanded in custody pending investigations and detained in the Third Ismailia Section. She was granted bail of 10,000 pounds on June 22, 2014.
