Esraa Hasan was arrested as a minor on January 5, 2014, along with her aunt, Aziza Sayyid Ahmed, and her cousin, Siham Abdul Hadi, in front of the old university dental clinic in Ismailia after the centralized forces broke up the demonstrations of the University of the Suez Canal. They took her to the Third Ismaili Section. She was presented before the prosecution, which charged her with participating in demonstrations, inciting violence, obstructing public security, violating the law on demonstrations, and disrupting the constitution. She was imprisoned pending investigations. She was sentenced to two years in prison on 30 April 2014, which was commuted in mid-July 2014 to six months imprisonment. After the end of her detention, they refused to discharge her and she was included in two other cases. She was released on July 27, 2014 – Violations: – she was beaten and poorly treated in custody – she did not attend the sentencing hearing, but was instead locked in the deportation car for 4 hours. Some officers and policemen would not stop intimidating and threatening her – rotating her, as she was included in two new cases after the end of her detention
