Alsayda Rifai was arbitrarily arrested in the street on January 3, 2014, in the events known as “Al Suef City Events”, after security forces dispersed a demonstration that was on a city street at the time. She was charged with killing Haja Zainab, burning a box, provoking riots, and vandalism under case No. 76 of 2014, Second Al Ramal Administration. The prosecution ordered her imprisonment pending investigations. She was transferred to Damanhour public prison. The case was referred on December 24, 2014 and she was released on presidential pardon on 23 September 2015.
