Raoa Mohamed El-Sayed’s house in the village of Mit al-Kholi Momen in Daqahliya governorate was raided and she and her two daughters were arrested on June 28, 2015 and charged in the case no. 9783 of 2015 Mona al-Nasr Administration. She was charged with joining a terrorist group, possessing explosives, and possessing anti-regime publications. The prosecution ordered her to be detained pending investigations. her detention was continually renewed until she was released on bail of 1,000 pounds on March 23, 2016. She was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment on 17 December 2016. She was acquitted in a retrial on February 20, 2017. – Violations she was subjected to: – She was beaten and held in solitary confinement on 3 December 2015 for objecting to an insult directed at her by the deputy warden and a number of officers. – She was detained with more than 40 criminals in one crowded cell, with one small bathroom. She complained about the overcrowding of the bathroom with prisoners, as well as the prison administration closing the air vents, which filled the cell with cigarette smoke from the prisoners. The prisoners verbally assaulted some of them with the most horrible insults and words.
