Sara Atef was arrested on November 27, 2017 during a visit to her husband, “Mohammed Hassan,” a detainee in Burj al-Arab prison, after the head detective stopped her in regards to a card memory that he said she had. She was presented to the prosecution under case No. 9991 for 2017, Burj al-Arab Misdemeanors. The prosecution ordered her to be detained pending investigations. She was sentenced to six months in prison on May 31, 2018 and discharged after serving her sentence.
