Ali Soliman was arrested as a minor, with others on March 30, 2014, from his home in Al Buhayra during a massive security campaign. He was accused of forming a terrorist cell targeting police officers and journalists in the province, and he was charged with the incidents of burning cars, launching and financing websites to incite against officers, and spreading their data. He was being detained pending investigations.
