Mohamed Abdullah El-Sayed was arrested as a minor from his home in Al-Salhia al-Jadida on September 14, 2013 and charged with burning the Al-Qurain police station, joining a terrorist group and disrupting the constitution. He was detained pending investigations and later released. He was sentenced in absentia to five years’ imprisonment on December 30, 2013. He applied for a retrial in order to release him or commute his sentence on 2015/2/10, and while attending the hearing he was surprised by the adjustment of his sentence from five years to life on March 10, 2015. He appealed several times and was rejected, then the veto was accepted in March 2017 and the sentence was reduced on January 28, 2018 to 3 years and he was discharged after serving the term – Violations: – solitary confinement upon his entry into Zagazig general prison – during his transfer to Burj al-Arab prison, some of his clothes were torn and his books were confiscated, and he was put into the revenue room with criminals – suffers from hypertension and colon issues, and there was intransigence in the entry of his treatment – his family suffered during their visit from very bad treatment and standing in line for more than three hours and self-inspection – was prevented from the entry of books, and prevented from testing in some subjects while he was in Burj Al Arab prison, which led to his failure and the need to repeat the school year.
