Omar Mohamed was arrested in his home in Suez and taken to the headquarters of the Security Directorate in Suez and then to Al Salam camp. He remained forcibly disappeared until he was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on February 23, 2020 under case 1530 for 2019. He was charged with the crimes of participating in a terrorist group to achieve its goals, receving funding for terrorist purposes, participating in criminal agreements with the purpose of committing terrorist crimes, assembly, using private internet accounts with the goal of committing legally punishable crimes to disturb public order. The prosecution ordered that he be detained pending investigation. On August 26, 2020, he was released. Violations he was subjected to: -enforced disappearance for a period – subjected to moral threat, beatings, kicked and electrocuted, in order to force him to confess to his participation in the September 20, 2019 protests.
