Anas Abd El-Maqsod was arrested at his home in Daqahliya as a minor on April 15, 2014 (his brothers were arrested the day before) amidst the clashes that led to the burning of a car in the presidential election. He was detained pending investigation. He was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment on 19 January 2015. He appealed the decision and it was reduced to one year imprisonment on February 26, 2017. He was released after serving the term of imprisonment. – Violations: – tortured and electrocuted to force him to confess – he and his brothers were beaten until he passed out in September 2015 – made a case against him from the inside on charges of assaulting a public servant.
