Khaled Abd El-Rahman was arbitrarily arrested as a minor, with others on January 5, 2014 in Alexandria, accused of demonstrating without prior written notice, assembly, and showing force and signaling violence. He was detained pending investigations. The Child Misdemeanours Court granted him bail of 5,000 pounds on April 2, 2014 and suspended the claims under the adjudication of adult claims. He was subsequently sentenced to three years in prison in absentia on 15 April 2015.
