El-Sayed Ali was arrested as a minor, with others following demonstrations in Muharram Bey in Alexandria that took place after taraweeh prayers on June 30, 2014. They were presented to the prosecution under case No. 9463 of 2014 administrative Muharram Bek. They were charged with demonstrating without a permit, joining a terrorist group, terrorizing citizens, disrupting traffic and public and private establishments, disrupting the movement of production, and shouting in order to provoke sedition by saying “fall of the military rule and the Ministry of Interior is a thug”. The prosecution ordered their detention pending investigations.
