Mahmoud Magdy was arbitrarily arrested in the street amidst the revolution’s third anniversary in Al Mansoura on January 25th, 2014. He was detained under case No. 706 of 2014, Al Mansoura First administrative. He was accused of joining an illegally formed group, possession of fireworks and printouts to disrupt the law, assembly, and demonstration without permit. He was sentenced to 10-year prison on June 23rd, 2014. He appealed and his sentence was reduced to 5-year prison on January 14th, 2016. He was transferred to Borj Al Arab prison on February 24th, 2016. He was subject to:
– Beating and torture in Al Mansoura First station.
– Hunger strike with others on November 11th, 2014 in opposition to the maltreatment and numerous violations that they were subject to in their detention. They were subject to beating and theft of their possessions by security forces. They were subject to disciplinary confinement during their strike. The strike was resolved on November 21st after achieving some of their demands.
