Abd El-Rahman Osama was arrested as a minor with others from the Helwan University ambush on September 27, 2013, while returning from the Helwan march against the regime. Under case No. 20044 for 2013, Helwan misdemeanour, he was charged with committing acts endangering the independence of the country, assembly of more than five people, joining a banned group and breaking curfew. They were detained pending investigations.
