Abdullah Omar was arrested around Matay Station amidst demonstration dispersal in Minya on August 18th, 2013.He was detained under case No. 8473 of 2013, Matay administrative, registered under total No. 1824 of 2014, North Minya. He was accused of arson of and raid on Matay police station, murder of an officer, attempted murder, joining a banned group, firing gunshots, stealing weapons, and terrorizing security. The case was transferred to the Grand Mufti on March 24th, 2014. His sentence was reduced on April 28th to life with 20-thousand L.E. fine and probation for the same detention period. The sentence was appealed and the preliminary ruling was set aside. On August 7th, he was sentenced to ten-year prison.
