Alia Shokry was arrested along with others from a demonstration in the vicinity of al-Rahman Mosque in Matarya on July 10, 2015. She was taken to the Matarya section and detained on the charge no. 6495 for 2015, Al Matarya Administration. She was released on August 12, 2015, and sentenced on September 2, 2015 to a fine of 10,000 pounds. She was then surprised when her name and others’s names were added to a new case in April 2016, in which they were accused of possessing a weapon, assaulting a police officer, and fleeing the department. As a result, they were referred to the Criminal Court, which on May 15, 2016 sentenced them in absentia to 15 years and a fine of 15,000 pounds. She was acquitted on 4/19/19.
