Alia Tarek was arrested in front of Al-Azhar University along with two others, after breaking up a university march on 10/20/14. They were taken to a second section of Nasser City and were forcibly disappeared. Her family submitted reports to the public prosecution in order to reveal her whereabouts. The department denies her existence, despite sending a text message to her mother telling her that she was arrested and taken to the department. She was subjected to enforced disappearance for about 19 days until her release on 11/06/2014. She showed signs of torture and exhaustion. Violations she was subjected to: enforced disappearance for nearly 19 days – she was subjected to torture, as she showed signs of torture and exhaustion upon her release.
