Ammar Abd El-Aal and some of his family members were arrested amidst security raids in Moharam Bek in Alexandria on April 28th, 2014. He was detained on remand for joining an illegally formed group (Walaa movement) with an aim to commit violence and terrorism against citizens and the state. This movement targeted army and police officers, arsoned their cars and disrupted the state’s security and public peace in 2013. Al Ismaila criminal court sentenced him to ten-year prison in “Walaa” case on April 2nd, 2019.
