Asmaa Abu Bakr was arrested on September 18, 2014 with her brother and uncle after a neighbour reported that they were making explosives in their home in Met Ghamar. She was presented before the prosecution, who ordered her detention. She was released on October 1, 2014. It is mentioned that she was previously arrested on July 30, 2014 while visiting her father in Burj al-Arab prison and released on the same day.
