Aya Mohamed was arrested on December 27, 2013 after a march in Sadat city in Manoufia governorate, and charged with joining a group founded against the provisions of the law, demonstrating without permit, and assembly. The prosecution ordered her imprisonment pending investigations. She was released on February 16, 2014 and sentenced in absentia to 7 years in prison on April 26, 2014.
