Aya Mosad was arrested in the Victoria area of Alexandria on April 18, 2015 and charged with possession of a bag containing fireworks to cause panic among students, in the vicinity of the Headquarters of the Arab Academy of Science and Technology in Abu Qir area east of Alexandria. Her imprisonment was renewed on this charge until she was referred to trial in Case no. 20580 for 2015, Second Mantaza Felonies. She was charged with joining a banned group founded in violation with the provisions of the Constitution and the law. The charge that spread in the media that the bag with fireworks had been planted was cancelled. She was sentenced to imprisonment on October 3, 2015. She was discharged after serving her sentence in Al-Abyad prison. She was arrested again from home on 3 December 2016 and forcibly disappeared and subjected to beatings and torture. – Violations she was subjected to: she suffered violent physical and psychological abuse during her detention – medical negligence, as her health deteriorated due to poor conditions of detention; she suffered from not being seen by specialist doctors, as the women’s prison doesn’t have a women’s hospital; subject to enforced disappearance, beating and torture on December 3, 2016.
