Doaa Nabawi and another were arrested from the metro while they were going to Al Maadi. They were taken to the Matariya section on July 24, 2015. She was presented before the prosecution and was investigated in the case no. 6790 of 2015, Al Matariya Administration, on charges of demonstrating without permit, possession of weapons, resisting the authorities and firing shots. She was detained pending investigations. She was sentenced to four years imprisonment on August 19, 2015. She appealed the sentence, and it was commuted to two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 pounds on 28 December 2015. She remained a prisoner in Al-Qanater prison in order to carry out the sentence. The sentence was subsequently overturned and she was released on January 16, 2017 after the appeal was accepted. Then she was acquitted on 31 December 2017.
