Ihtiram El-Sayed was arrested in a court complex in Mahalla al-Kabir on May 21, 2014 for saying “Allah is sufficient for us and He is the Best Disposer of Affairs,” when officer Raed Al-Ayedi slapped her husband, Sabri Taha, in the face in front of her. She was imprisoned for raising slogans offensive to the army and police. On July 8, 2014, during the completion of the proceedings, she was surprised to be transferred to the First Tanta Section on a new charge in the Second Tanta district, of incitement to burn an officer’s car. A date of the incident was reecorded, even though she was detained at this time. She was imprisoned again until she was released on bail of 2,000 pounds on August 18, 2014. – Violations: – Rotation, as she was not released and was instead included in a new case that occurred during her imprisonment.
