Jihad Shaban and others were arrested on May 4, 2014, when they participated in a march on Mohamed Naguib Street in the Police Station of Al-Marg in Cairo Governorate chanting slogans against the army and the police. They were presented before the prosecution to investigate under case No. 12271 of 2014 Misdemeanor Al-Marg. The charges were against them for joining a group established in violation of the provisions of the law, demonstrating without permit, assembly and assaulting citizens, possession of inflammatory publications and special plates of burned police cars, and damaging public and private property.
