Maha Gamal was arrested as a minor on 27 December 2013 following a march in Ismailia in the Al-Salam neighborhood. She was presented before the prosecution under case No. 9629 of 2013, Second Ismailia Misdemeanors. She was charged with possession of Rabaa publications and badges, clashing with police forces, and throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at cars and individuals. She was detained pending investigations. She was released on 2 March 2014 and sentenced in absentia by the Military Criminal Court in Ismailia to a fine of 100,000 pounds on March 30, 2016.
