Mahmoud Hany was arrested amidst a demonstration in Bandar Shebeen known as ‘’The Upper Bridge Events‘’ in El-Menofia on January 20th, 2014. He was detained under case No. 834 of 2014 Bandar Shebeen El-kom Misdemeanor. He was accused of joining an illegally formed group, demonstration without permit, assembly, obstruction of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and possession of incendiary devices. The court ordered his acquittal on December 10th, 2014.
