Mahmoud Magdy was arrested in his house in Al Gharbia on February 25th, 2015. He was detained on remand under a demonstration case. He was sentenced to two-year prison and 50-thousand L.E. fine. He appealed and was acquitted on May 25th, 2015. After his acquittal, he was not released. Instead, he was framed under the 257 military case. He was detained on remand and he was sentenced to three-year prison in December 2016. He was subject to:

– Deprivation of high school exams in 2016.
