Mahmoud Maher was arrested as a minor during the fourth anniversary of the Revolution at Ad-Dakhilah in Alexandria on January 25, 2015. He was charged with joining an illegally formed group, demonstrating without a permit, assembly, showing force and signaling violence under the case No. 4169 for 2015, Ad-Dakhilah felonies. He was detained pending investigations, and sentenced to 3 years in prison on 21 July 2016. Then the retrial was accepted on January 21, 2018.
