He surrendered himself to the Arab Police Department on April 1, 2023, along with two of his friends after they found out they were wanted by the police for throwing water bags at cars on the road. He surrendered around 6 PM and remained detained until presented to the prosecution in Port Said. The prosecution charged him with assault, destruction, and breaking car windows, which he denied. He was detained for four days pending investigations, and on Thursday, April 6, 2023, his release was secured by the Partial Renewal Judge for a bail of 500 Egyptian pounds. He paid it and was transferred from the Arab Department to the Central Security Camp in Port Said. They remained detained there and were not questioned until the State Security prosecution started interrogating them.
