Mohamed Ahmed was arrested amidst the events of Al-Azhar university in front of the university on October 30th, 2013. He was charged under case 5844 of 2013 Nasr City Second Misdemeanor for assembly, show of force and signaling violence against citizens, assault of Al-Azhar officers, and destruction of the university’s administrative building to spread chaos. He was sentenced to 3-year prison on June 21st, 2014.
