Mohamed Gamal was arrested in the dispersal of the national guard sit-in at Salah Salem in Cairo on July 8th, 2013. He was detained under case No. 9134 of 2013, Masr Al Jadidah misdemeanor. He was charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of firearms, vandalism, obstruction of traffic, and obtaining explosives.
