Mohamed Yasser was arrested amidst Abdeen events— Ahrar movement protest— in Talaat Harb Square on January 22nd, 2015. He was detained on remand under case No. 699 of 2015, Abdeen misdemeanor. He was accused of demonstration without permit, assembly, show of force and violence, obstruction of traffic, possession of explosives (fireworks), and destruction of private properties. He was released on June 22nd, 2015. He was sentenced in absentia to three-year prison on April 3rd, 2017.
