Naglaa Mukhtar was arrested at Cairo airport on August 18, 2018, while she was traveling to perform Hajj. She was forcibly disappeared until she appeared on August 29, 2018, as a defendant under case No. 1327 of 2018 Supreme State Security . She was imprisoned in Qanater prison, and her imprisonment is still being renewed. She formally renounced Egyptian nationality from inside prison, and requested deportation to the country of her new nationality, the United States of America, but she is still in detention nonetheless. – Violations to which she was subjected: – She was subjected to enforced disappearance for more than 10 days – She was prevented from visiting from the first day she was arrested – She is being held in Qanater prison in an isolation cell – Her father died in June 2020 and the security forces did not allow her to say goodbye to her father or attend his funeral.
