Omar Abd El-Karim was arrested as a minor on October 5, 2013 during a march from Asafarat district in Nasr City towards Rabaa al-Adawiya Square. He was investigated under the case No. 44552 for 2013, Nasr city first misdemeanor. He was charged with shouting abusive slogans, assaulting passers-by with his words and actions, raiding Rabaa Square, assaulting the police, insulting the armed forces, and destroying public and private property. He was later released.
