Omar Mostafa was arrested as a minor on August 14, 2013 by security forces amidst the demonstrations in Tanta, under case no. 8808 for 2013, First Tanta Administration. He remained in detention for three months before being released in October 2013. He was arrested again at dawn on April 24, 2014 from the Train Station in Tanta and was transferred to the State Security Prosecution in Cairo and remained detained under case no. 142 of 2014, the Supreme State Security . He obtained release from the case only to be transferred to a second police station Tanta. He was presented the following day to the second prosecution of tanta, which decided to detain him on the record no. 363 for 2014, Second Tanta Administration. He was released and then presented under case No. 373 for 2014 Second Tanta Administration, on charges of burning a police car. He was also released in this record. Although he did not have other cases against him, his family was surprised by his transfer from his imprisonment in the second section of Tanta to the first section of Tanta without a warrant from the public prosecutor and without the family’s knowledge. He was presented to the head of the investigations of the First Division Tanta, after being imprisoned for two days in the first section without bond or legal reason. The family was surprised by his presentation to the First Tanta prosecution on a new case, no. 407 for the year 2014, First Administrative Tanta. He was detained under this record. He was sentenced to 3 years by a military court under case No. 11 of 2015 on April 21, 2015, and a civilian court sentenced him to 5 years in absentia in case 643 for 2014 on charges of joining a group established against the law. He was also sentenced to 3 years imprisonment under case 251 for 2014, and 3 years under case No. 2, military crimes on 12 February 2019 – Violations: – During his first imprisonment, he underwent a serious operation and he needed medical care – before his arrest in April 2014 his house was raided twice and when they did not find him, his father was arrested and imprisoned in a case – he was beaten and tortured after his arrest in April 2014 – rotated several times, as every time he got released there was intransigence in the implementation of the decision, and he was included a new case which led to him still being detained now – according to his mother, visits were no more than 2 minutes and from behind wire – he was beaten, tortured and ill-treated in Wadi Al-Natroun prison, forcing him to go on hunger strike in July 2017. – Intransigence and preventing him from taking his exams in June 2018
