Ramy Ahmed was arrested amidst the events of the revolution’s third anniversary in Cairo downtown on January 25th, 2014. He was detained under case No. 12096 of 2014 Abdeen felonies, registered under total No. 1561 and known to the media as “Mazaleem Wust El-Balad”. He was accused of assembly, possession of weapons, demonstration, murder, attempted murder, and show of force and violence. Later, he was released. On February 26th, 2017, he was sentenced in absentia to ten-year prison. The judgement was appealed.
