Rasha Maher’s house was raided and she and her husband were arrested on October 10, 2017. She was forcibly disappeared for nearly 70 days until she appeared on December 24, 2017, before the State Security Prosecutor’s Office, charged under case 955 of 2017, Supreme State Security . She was charged with participating in a criminal agreement to take action that would harm national security. She was transferred to El Qanater prison and continually renewed until she was released on November 18, 2019. Violations she was subjected to: Enforced disappearance for approximately 70 days – held in an unofficial detention facility – no lawyer was present during her initial investigations – the place of detention remained unknown for more than a year – she was unable to see her children or her detained husband throughout the period of detention.
