Shaimaa Hemdan was arrested on August 16, 2013 in the area between Ramses Square and Bab al-Sharia, and Abu Bakr al-Siddiq mosque and the surrounding area in Bab al-Shariya neighborhood. They were taken to the Al Salam Camp for Central Security and investigated under case No. 3437 of 2013 Bab Al Sharia Misdemeanors Al Salam Camp. She was imprisoned in El Qanater prison. She was released on September 3, 2013. She was acquitted in the case on May 19, 2014. She was later arrested on April 25, 2016 from a field activity. She was detained in Qasr Al Nil Section pending Case No. 6408 for 2016 Qasr Al Nil Misdemeanors. She was released on 4/27/16 on bail of 500 pounds. She was sentenced in absentia to 2 years in prison with work on 5/14/16. She was also arrested on 5/15/16 to implement the sentence in absentia in another demonstration case. It was commuted to 1 year in June 2016 and presented in a third case.
