Shaimaa Mahmoud was arrested on December 2, 2013, from the University of Manofia for wearing a pin bearing the Rabaa logo. She was presented before the prosecution on charges of distributing leaflets demanding the overthrow of the regime. She was released on December 5, 2013 and sentenced in absentia on April 18, 2014 to two years in prison. She was also sentenced in abstentia to four years imprisonment in April 2014 in the case of the theoretical assembly of Shabin Al Kom, although she was not present that day due to her dismissal.
