Samira Fayez and others were arrested on January 14, 2014 in the al-Khallawi area of Bashbra for participating in anti-referendum demonstrations against the constitutional amendments. She received a one-year prison sentence on March 17, 2014, which was commuted on appeal to six months and a fine of 50,000 pounds on 29 April 2014.
