Samah Ibrahim was arrested on January 14, 2014 while covering a Brotherhood march on the first day of the constitutional referendum in Al-Khallawi area of Bashra. She received a one-year prison sentence on March 17, 2014, which was commuted on appeal to six months and a fine of 50,000 pounds on 29 April 2014.
