Fatima Nassar was arbitrarily arrested in the street on January 3, 2014, in the events known as “Al Suef City Events,” while she was trying to help an old man who could not breathe well because of the gas used by the security forces to disperse the demonstrators in Saydi Bashar. She was charged with killing Haja Zainab, burning a box, provoking riots, and vandalism under case No. 76 of 2014, Second Al Ramal Administration. The prosecution ordered her imprisonment pending investigations. She was transferred to Damanhour public prison. The case was referred on December 24, 2014 and she was released on presidential pardon on 23 September 2015.
