Mazen Khaled Hamza

Mazen Khaled was arrested as a minor on January 28, 2015 during the anniversary of the Friday of Anger, from Al Bahar street in Mansoura while the security forces arbitrarily arrested pedestrians. He was transferred to the first section of Mansoura, and was charged with disturbing the public peace, obstructing the road, terrorizing citizens, vandalizing the Sandoub railway and joining a terrorist group. He was imprisoned amidst case 108 for the year 2015 military crimes, known as the “Organization of Quality Operations in The Province of Hâliya”. On November 15, 2016, the Military Criminal Court sentenced him to three years in prison and he was discharged after serving his full sentence. – Violations: – Medical negligence, as he was infected with mumps inside his confinement from one of the detainees inside the first section of Mansoura. His family submitted a request to transfer him to the hospital because of the deterioration of his health, his high temperature, and his inability to walk, and because of a doctor’s report confirming the gravity of Mazen’s health and the need to transfer him to the Hospital of Al-Hamiyat as soon as possible, but the request was rejected by the officer of the first section of Mansoura. He shredded the medical report and asked the doctor to give Mazen a guard for heat, and returned him to the department again. – Tortured, electrocuted and threatened with sexual assault, which led him to begin to a hunger strike for a while – self confinement.
