Hamid Rafat was arrested amidst security raids in houses at Hadaeq Al Qubbah, Cairo, on April 3rd, 2014. He was accused of bringing weapons from Menofia to distribute to Brotherhood members and use in marches in Cairo. According to the interior ministry, he was arrested while possessing two 12-millimeter cartridge rifles, four 12-millimeter bullets and a mobile phone. He was detained on remand. On May 14th, 2014, the case was transferred to the minor prosecution since he was a minor. this prosecution also ordered his detention on remand.
