Anas Mounir was arrested amidst demonstrations that caused arson of a police car at Cairo’s Mustafa Al-Nahas street on January 8th, 2014. He was detained under case No. 871 of 2014 Nasr City First, Misdemeanor. He was accused of show of force and violence, terrorization of citizens, possession of illegal weapons, demonstration without permit, and disrupt of citizens’ interests. On April 30th, 2014,he was sentenced, for the first charge, to six-months and 500-pound bail and expenses. For the second, he was sentenced to one year prison with one-thousand L.E. fine, in addition to criminal expenses. For the third, he was sentenced to one year prison with labor and acceleration of execution. He was sentenced to a year in prison with labor, criminal expenses and acceleration of execution for the fourth. He was sentenced to 6-months prison and 500-L.E. for the fifth. For the seventy and eighth, he was sentenced to confiscation, a year with labor, acceleration of execution, and expenses He was acquitted on appeal on April 14th, 2016. He was rearrested on July 17th, 2015. He was charged with membership in a terrorist group, use of munitions cartridges and fireworks, and arson of a police car. On June 22nd, 2015, he was detained on remand under 27013 of 2015, Nasr City misdemeanor.
