Fawzia Ibrahim and her son were arrested at their home in Maadi at dawn on April 3, 2016. She was presented before the prosecution and investigated in case no. 2170 of 2016, Dar es Salaam Felonies. She was accused of possessing weapons and publications, and financing terrorist groups. She was imprisoned under investigation. On June 4, 2017, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison and her son to 4 years in prison. She is now imprisoned in Al-Qanater prison. Violations she was subjected to: Prevention of visits and other means of communication for months starting with the Corona crisis.
