Hanaa Mohamed was arrested in Jamsa prison on June 22, 2014, while she was on her way to visit her husband, a detainee, A. Sharif Abdel Dayem. As she passed through the prison’s electronic gate, the scanner detected a small metal object in her handbag. When the object was examined, it appeared to be a black pen equipped with a camera and flash. She was not able to justify to the officer why she had the pen. He concluded from that that the pen was to record prison conditions. The pen was confiscated in order to present it to the prosecution. The prosecution ordered her to be released on the same day.
